Around the Globe With Dr. Suzanne Bird

By Dr. Suzanne Bird

Each day, I have the privilege of improving the smiles of my patients forever, enhancing the quality of their lives.

This is very rewarding with children and teens who require treatment early on to prevent future problems. Being able to look out for them now and step in as soon as possible makes this the best job in the world!

Time sure flies when you’re involved and passionate about your job and when you’re having fun doing it! But every once in a while, we all need to have a break.

In this blog, I’ll fill you in on some of my hobbies and passions!

At the top of my list of pastimes is traveling. I’ve been to many tropical destinations with my husband and five children. I love strolling along sandy beaches, dipping my toes in turquoise blue water, and dolphin watching!

Other dream destinations of mine are Spain, Italy, New Zealand, and Australia.

As a child, I was lucky enough to move around and experience much of the USA. After attending the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry and Ohio State University, I became a sports fanatic! When you’re surrounded by it every day on campus, it stays in your blood! Gooo Tar Heels! Gooo Buckeyes!

As a breast cancer survivor, my health is important to me although finding time to do it is a challenge. I usually go retro with step aerobics. Yep, you heard that right! I put the classic “Bodies in Motion” DVD on repeat. You can find anything on Amazon! Most recently, some team members and I have joined 9 Round and are doing a “Biggest Loser” challenge.

I also enjoy good food. My favorite dishes are vegetarian – the more the better! A few favorite spots include Kabob Je for the best cauliflower, Viva Chicken for quinoa-stuffed avocado, and Blue Taj for Indian chana masala.

What about you? How do you like to blow off some steam? Let me know on your next visit to Braces By Bird!
